In July 2017, the School of General Engineering (SGE) held a one-month summer teaching working conference. The opening ceremony, held on July 3, was conducted by Professor Wen Dongsheng. The conference was attended by teachers from the School of Aeronautic Science and Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Aerospace School, School of Humanities, School of Instrument Science and Optoelectronics, China-France Institute of Engineers, BUAA’s International School, Higher Education Institute and other institutes.
Prof. Lueny Morell from the United States chaired this year's working conference. Prof. Morell, one of the founders and Former President of International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES), Global Engineering Dean's Council (GEDC) and Student Platform for Engineering Education Development (SPEED), Program Evaluator of Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), is recognized as a pioneer in engineering education in the United States. From the ABET certification, Prof. Morell offered guidance on the top-level courses of Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering and Electronic Information Engineering. She designed and optimized the implementation plan of BUAA Engineering Leadership Program. She also organized seminars on formulating the curriculum outline, curriculum evaluation methods and teaching methods.
Academic lectures on 15 themes were also held during the conference, covering advanced teaching method implementation, ABET certification, curriculum evaluation, teaching management, among others.
