China-Japan Youth Exchange

To facilitate the connection and cooperation in science and technology between China and Japan, enhance our mutual understanding and communication, and strengthen our collaboration in scientific and technological innovation, SGE will select eight to ten outstanding undergraduates from the 2017-level students to participate in “Science and Technology Exchange Program for China-Japan Youth (Sakura Science and Technology Plan): Basic-level Counterpart Project”. Relevant matters are as follows:


1、Introduction: “Sakura Science and Technology Plan”

1) Project Introduction

“Science and Technology Exchange Program for China-Japan Youth: Basic-level Counterpart Project” is co-hosted by China’s Ministry of Science and Technology and Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). It provides outstanding high school students, college students, and young scientists from various countries and regions in Asia with a chance to visit Japanese schools, research institutes, companies and other organizations, and involve in academic talks and activities with Japanese youth, scientists, and researchers. The project is funded by the Japan Science and Technology Agency in full funding: international travel expenses, accommodation and meals expenses, transportation fees and overseas insurance during the period, and visa-related materials to Japan. The project was launched in 2014, and now more than 5,000 Chinese candidates have participated in this program.

2) Activities

Activities consists of experiencing Japan's cutting-edge technologies, learning about Japanese society and culture, visiting Japanese schools, research institutes, companies and other organizations, and talks and seminars with Japanese youths, scientists, and researchers.

3) Schedule

The trip would be arranged from the late July to early August or October(about 7 days). More specific information will be updated.


2、Application requirements

1) No previous trip to Japan;

2) Have not participated in “Sakura Science and Technology Plan”;

3) Excellency in personality and studying, and comprehensive quality;

4) Strong communication and organization skills.


3、Selection mechanism

1) Selection principles: Fair, just and transparent. Besides the application requirements, students' academic performance, participation in activities, overseas experiences, foreign language proficiency, and student work are all taken into consideration.

2) The evaluation and selection of the candidates is conducted by the International Exchange Review Working Group of School of General Engineering.


4、Time for application

March 30 to April 8, filling out the application form: Application Form for International Exchange Project (see “Frequently Downloaded” column on the homepage)

April 9 - April 10, submitting the application form. The hard copy needs to be submitted to the D1114 office, while the electronic version needs to be sent to the e-mail: yuying@buaa.edu.cn;

April 11 to April 13, evaluion and selection;

April 13 to April 16, announcement of the list of candidates
