In the afternoon of May 12th, Professor Todd M. Nelson, Professor Tony Pizelo and more than 30 students from the Business School of Northwest University came to visit the School of General Engineering (SGE) and had a deeply and friendly cultural communication with students of SGE. Qiudi Zhao, the assistant of Dean and director of student support center, Xuan Liu, the assistant of school affairs of Fengru College, Ying Yu, student counsellor of SGE and other related staffs attended the activity. This cultural communication activity is co-organized by the School of General Engineering and Fengru College.
At the beginning of the meeting, Qiudi Zhao conveyed a hearty welcome to the delegation of Northwest University on behalf of SGE, and also gave an introduction of both Beihang University and the School of General Engineering in terms of the field of talents cultivation, general education, student science and technology and international cultural exchange and so on. Later on, Professor Nelson briefly introduced the Business School of Northwest University and explained the background and significance of this cross-cultural visit.
Subsequently, both sides of students was randomly divided into several groups and discussed around three topics, including the general education of Chinese and American universities, the learning methods and techniques of Chinese and American university students, and the internship and work experience. The meeting, lasting around 2 hours, proceeded in such a lively and warm atmosphere. After the meeting, students of SGE expressed that the cultural exchange helped them make some new international friends, broaden their horizon and promoted their understanding of American university education and talents cultivation, which is very beneficial for their further education and career choice. Students also showed their expectation and favor to future cultural communication activities of SGE. After the meeting, some of the students accompanied the delegation to visit the campus and cultural souvenir center.
